As Easter coming around again we decided to take a break in Japan - this time in Tohoku where winter was still in evidence.
Having packed the down jackets and other thermals we headed off to the airport to catch Japan Airlines to Haneda Airport, Tokyo. All was well apart from the assumption the plane departed at 1640 when in actual fact it was 1540.
But all was well and we made it to Haneda on time.
Our first night was at the Marriott Prince Sakura hotel in Takanawa not too long a taxi ride from the airport.
As always travelling with a vegetarian presents challenges in a country where all the menus are in a script you cannot guess at but luckily the practice of plastic replicas outside the restaurant is alive and well so all was saved.
Refreshed we headed on Good Friday to Tokyo station to catch the Shinkansen northwards to Morioka in Tohoku.

We have made quality our habit. It’s not something that we just Hong Kong - Colombo - Ella - Galle - Bentota - Hong KongThe challenge of Chinese New Year is trying to find somewhere to go that is not super expensive or full of the crowds fleeing the family festivities !Sri Lanka seemed to fit the bill and having slipped away a bit early from the office we climbed aboard the Sri Lankan Airbus 330, settled into our business class seats and headed south west to Colombo.
